RM began his official visit to Republic of Korea with a call on Prime Minister Mr. Lee Nak-yon on September 4, 2019.  The two leaders had in-depth discussions on all facets of the bilateral relationship and noted with appreciation thatROK’s“New Southern Policy” and India’s “Act East Policy”shared the same perspective and goals.  Theelevation of bilateral relations to a  Special Strategic Partnership in 2015 has heralded a new era in India-Korea relations. They both noted that the special trust and confidence between ROK President Moon Jae In and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi have paved the way for enhanced cooperation and taken the relationship to a higher plane.

Prime Minister Lee expressed the ROK Government’s desire for active cooperation with India in diplomatic as well as national security and defence policy arenas.  The two leaders shared the view that the CEOs Forum will serve as a catalyst for greater industry level cooperation.  RM reaffirmed Government of India’s commitment to facilitate economic activities of Korean companies in India and their participation in the ‘Make in India” initiative. Raksha Mantriand PM Lee conveyed their good wishes to each other for their efforts in the Korean peninsula and Kashmir respectively.
