152nd Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi

The Embassy of India, Seoul and Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (SVCC) celebrated the 152nd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in hybrid format on 2nd October 2021 where families of the Embassy joined physically and the Indian communities and friends of India in Korea joined online. The event started with floral tributes to the Mahatma Gandhi. Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) Mr. Surinder Bhagat gave remarks on Gandhi’s thoughts and ideals which are timeless and remain relevant in today’s world. It was followed with cultural performances by the families of the Embassy officials and staffs, including musical and dance recitals. A special address by Dr. Shobhana Radhakrishna on “Mahatma Gandhi’s Global pursuit of Truth, Non-Violence and Peace’’ was also screened on this occasion. The programme continued with DCM paying tribute to the Gandhi bust installed at International Campus, Yonsei University located at Incheon, along with SVCC Director and Head of Chancery.
Earlier a day ago, DCM and SVCC Director paid floral tributes to Statue of Mahatma Gandhi located at Friendship Park, in Gimhae City and at the Gandhi Bust located at Hongbeopsa temple located at Busan.
