Embassy of India, Seoul celebrated 73rd Independence Day with great fervour today. The event started with Ambassador Sripriya Ranaganathan hoisting the tricolors at the Embassy premises followed by singing of National Anthem. In the event that followed, Ambassador read out excerpts from the speech by Hon'ble President delivered to the nation on the eve of 73rd Independence Day. A colorful ensemble of performances by the teacher and students of Swami Vivekanand Cultural Centre, students of Seoul Foreign School and Korean artists enthralled the audience. About 600 people comprising prominent members of Indian community living in Republic of Korea, senior bureaucrats led by officers of Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration who are on study tour in Korea and prominent Korean dignitaries including Padmashri Ms. Kim Yang-shik attended the celebrations. Ambassador gave away prizes to Korean students who were winners of the painting competition held to commemorate the 150th Birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Later, Ambassador and Ms. E Min-joo, President of Korea India contemporary Arts Association inaugurated a Painting Exhibition involving beautiful art work by Korean and Indian artists at Swami Vivekanand Cultural Centre.
