“Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas 2019”

Embassy of India, Seoul held the 2019 Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas at Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center in Seoul today, the 9th of January where a large number of diverse Indian nationals attended the program.

The Program started with remarks by Ambassador Sripriya Ranganathan, where she highlighted the contribution of Indians in shaping up the bilateral relations with ROK and also in projecting a good brand India image. It was followed by distribution of prizes to the winners of 1st round of Bharat Ko Janiye Quiz. Ambassador also presented the Pansori singer Ms. Eun-hye Lee with the letter of Appreciation from EAM Sushma Swaraj for her work in rendering of “Vaishnav Jan To” song during the 150th Birth Anniversary Celebration of Mahatma Gandhi, 2018.

A promotional video of the 15th Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas to be celebrated in Varanasi on 21st-23rd January was played. The program also contained a panel discussion on “Life in Korea” by Mr. Vasudev Tumbe, Mr Abhishek “Lucky” Gupta, Mr Sanjay who are all distinguished Indians in their own domains. It was followed with the release of the book “Non Resident Idiot” by Ambassador.

A cultural program followed where Kathak Dances, Ocarnia instrumental music, garba, Bengali and Naga songs were performed. The event ended with a vote of thanks by First Secretary (consular).
